What's in my Uni bag?

Hi all, it's been a while since I did a blog post aimed at students, so I thought I'd do this post seeing as fellow Uni students are returning back to their second semester, or if you're nosey and curious (like me, oops), read on and you can find out what I carry in my bag to school! Sort of a different kind of post... I haven't written much because I'm not feeling well and I can't really think/type haha! So you can enjoy the photos I took and if you need anymore details leave a comment down below!

My go-to bag this semester has been a handbag I bought not too long ago. I got it from a little fashion store for only $5! It's a knock off of the Longchamp bags, which I actually wasn't too fond of but then grew on me. I find that it's a really good size for all my belongings - the only thing I can fault are that the straps are a tiny bit small and sits weird when you wear it as a handbag.

Album Review: TRXYE

Moving away from fashion, beauty and lifestyle blogging for a bit and focusing on my newest obsession, which is Troye Sivan's new debut EP titled TRXYE.
TRXYE was released on Friday the 15th August which I was totally aware of, but I honestly didn't know that the date was so close. I finished up at the gym on Friday and popped into JB-HI-FI (luckily) and walked past their top 10 new releases display, where I spotted TRXYE in 1st or 2nd place. Completely oblivious to what the date was, I bought Troye's EP the day it was released in Australia for $8.99

The album art is so conceptual and actually means something to Troye, as he explains in this video. I really like the colours that are used and they really go well together and the typography is so minimal and great.

"HAPPY LITTLE PILL"
I'm so proud to say that I was there when Troye released this song on his Tumblr/Soundcloud at 5pm whatever day it was. I remember it being on repeat for the entire week and it's still one of my favourite songs at the moment. Watch the music video too if you haven't seen it already!
I personally think that this song is his strongest song on the EP, meaning that it sounds like it would appeal to a wide audience, whether one person likes pop or electronic stuff, they'll probably like Happy Little Pill. The entire song is brilliant because of its angsty/grungy sound, but the pre-chorus and the chorus makes the track 10 out of 10.

"TOUCH"
It starts off as such a sexy and romantic song by the way he sings the verse and the slow beats, but then the song gets quite intense but still slow... if that makes sense. Basically, it makes you want to have a slow motion dance montage haha! If you haven't already noticed, Troye seems heavily influenced by electronic artists (hence his amazing Youtube outro) and this song really shows that inspiration during 'that bit' after the chorus.

"FUN"
Listen to this song, then imagine Troye touring the country and performing this song live and the crowd getting so involved. The title says it all and I think this song is such an anthem, especially when the instruments cut out and are replaced with claps and multiple voices chanting the chorus! SUCH a feel-good song and now I can't wait for Troye to go on tour haha!

"GASOLINE"
I've probably just listened to this song 20 times in a row and I'm still not bored of it. It starts off with some gentle keys and Troye's voice, then progresses to a slow, smooth beat that I absolutely love under his voice, which is really shown off in this track. There's so much emotion in this track which goes extremely well with the lyrics that Troye has written and that electronic influence is definitely toned down in this one, but it still has a RnB, The Weeknd-esque sound to it.

"THE FAULT IN OUR STARS (MMXIV)"
To be honest, when Troye released his first The Fault In Our Stars song on Youtube, there was nothing to ride home about - it wasn't really my thing. When I saw The Fault In Our Stars (the movie), I absolutely hated it and so I didn't really have any reason or motivation to re-visit Troye's song. When I saw that it made it on TRXYE, I was actually the tiniest bit disappointed, but I actually have listened to it a few more times... I mean, sure it's a nice song, but definitely not the best on the EP.

Have any of you bought Troye's debut EP? What are your thoughts? Feel free to post a comment below or have a chat with me on Instagram! Hope you guys are having an awesome day, big love x

Believe the hype: SKINS UK

Skins is a British teen drama surrounding a group of teenagers in Bristol, England. First aired in 2007 and coming to an end in 2013, Skins consists of 7 seasons broken into 3 generations spread out between 6 seasons, with the 7th season titled Skins Redux made up of only 3 episodes. If you've managed to live your life without hearing about this brilliant TV show, it explores themes like dysfunctional relationships, bullying, mental illness, sexuality and substance abuse, which obviously sparked a bit of controversy. As soon as the first episode was premiered on E4, the show became an instant success - nothing like the crappy (attempted) US remake, which received bad feedback even before it was released. Luckily, Skins US was cancelled after just one season!

Recently, I decided to invest in the complete Skins UK boxset. I did some researching and found that this boxset is available online at a number of places. I got mine from an ebay user Sarmax Online Retail where I was able to get fast and free shipping. I made the order on the 22nd July and it was shipped the next day as the estimated delivery date was on or before the 28th July. I got my parcel the morning of 25th July, so I was very impressed!

If you haven't dived into the Skins UK hype, then I highly recommend that you do. Being completely honest, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but definitely give it a go and you might enjoy a certain aspect of the show, whether it be the talented and attractive cast, the creative approach to production, the script or the badass music played in the background. You'll find yourself laughing, crying and just wanting to be as cool as some of the characters and you might just be hooked from the first episode to the very last episode of season 7, just like I was.

This is my second time watching this whole series again, and now - I'm going to go and continue watching season after season of this show. I strongly advise you to do the same!

Another month has past and here's this months playlist of what I've been listening to in July! If you follow me on Instagram, you would know that one of my favourite Youtubers Troye Sivan released a single from his debut EP coming out soon and it's been on repeat since the day he released it! I went out to lunch with one of my best mates and he played a Lady Gaga song in the car as a joke and it was actually quite catchy and it didn't leave my head for a while haha! And finally, towards the end of the month, I was watching The Loop one morning and discovered an amazing artist Meghan Trainor, who you have to check out right now!
